TOURS

Mile invites you to take a trip to lodz, which begins with visiting the largest in Europe Jewish cemetery. This is a place of burial of victims of one of the most tragic events in the history of Polish Jews - extermination which took place in the lodz Jewish ghetto. Its testimony is a large Ghetto Field and six pits under the cemetery wall, in which the last executed Jews from the lodz ghetto were supposed to be buried. The next stopover during our trip will be a railway station of Radogoszcz (Radegast), from where prisoners were transported to the death camps in Chelmno and Auschwitz. The next site you will visit is the area of the former lodz ghetto, which was organized as the first one on the Polish land under the occupation, and liquidated as the last one. It was the second, after the Warsaw ghetto, most numerous Jewish community in Poland, and the largest in the area incorporated to the Reich. During the trip our guide will also show you synagogues in lodz. Unfortunately, only two of them have been preserved to the present day. The first one is a tiny synagogue at 28 Poludniowa street (at present 28 Rewolucji street). This synagogue was established in 1902 as a result of a reconstruction of a building owned by Wolf Reicher and changing it into a House of Payers. It was not destroyed only because of the fact that during the war it was used as a salt warehouse. The second synagogue is the one located inside the building of the present Jewish Community in lodz at Pomorska street.
