TOURS

Cracow for over a thousand years now has been a centre of the Polish science, culture and arts. It is a magical city, which discovers more and more of its secrets during each visit. Mile Business Travel Service invites you to participate in the following tours around Cracow:

Tour No. 1. Sightseeing Cracow

During this trip around Cracow you will se the Royal Castle, Wawel, the Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), St. Mary's Church and numerous other unique examples of the national heritage that no other city in Europe can boast. The visit begins with a stroll along the streets of Kazimierz, the Jewish district. Next we will go to the Wawel hill, crowned with a Castle and the Royal cathedral, which used to be a seat of Polish kings until the 17th century. Further, the route takes us along Grodzka street to the Main Market Square. The point crowning the visit to Cracow is St. Mary's Basilica with a medieval altar by Veit Stoss (Wit Stwosz) and two lofty towers. From the top of the tallest tower, every day and every hour a bugle-call is played to four sides of the world to commemorate a brave trumpeter.

Tour No. 2. Jewish Heritage

Kazimierz constitutes a south-western district of Cracow, which is a historic centre of the Jewish community in Cracow. Initially it was an independent town named after Casimir the Great (Kazimierz Wielki), however, as Cracow grew, in the 18th century Kazimierz became its part. A trip around Kazimierz allows us to visit the most interesting nooks of this district. First, these will include places connected with the "Schindler's List", a film by Steven Spielberg awarded with an Oscar. Then you will visit such Jewish historic sites as the Old Synagogue, the Synagogue and Cemetery of Remus. Finally, we will go to Plaszow, where a concentration camp was located during the war.

Tour No. 3. Cracow and the Salt Mine in Wieliczka

The programme of this tour includes sightseeing Cracow (trip No. 1) and the Salt Mine in Wieliczka, which has been functioning without any breaks for over 700 years and is one of the oldest in Europe.  Throughout the years miners have created there numerous chapels, sculptures and monuments carved in the salt walls, which made the salt mine be included in the list of the World Cultural Heritage UNESCO.  The route of the trip leads along he corridors and chambers on three levels which are hollowed out on the depth of 64 to 135 metres.  The most beautiful places include the Chapel of Blessed Kinga.  The tourist route encompasses 2.5 km of marching and over 600 wooden steps.  The visit ends in the Vistula chamber, where there is an underground gallery and a restaurant.

Tour No. 4. Cracow and Auschwitz-Birkenau

The programme of this trip consists of a visit to Cracow (trip No. 1) and to the concentration camp in Oswiecim, a German complex of concentration camps and extermination camps in the area of Oswiecim and the neighbouring villages.  The camp, existing in the period 1940-1945, has become a symbol of the whole concentration and extermination system.  It is the only concentration camp included in the list of the World Heritage UNESCO.  In 1940, in this region of Poland incorporated to the 3rd Reich, Germany established a camp initially meant for Poles, but gradually transformed into the main place of massive extermination (the Holocaust) of ca. one million Jews from all over Europe, as well as many Poles, Roma, Soviet prisoners of war and citizens of other nationalities.
